Canberra, ACT - citybreaks
Discover Canberras fine food and its autumn and
winter attractions on your next break in the ACT.
Canberra
and its surrounds make a great destination at any time, but especially
if you love the romantic colours of autumn as the leaves of the European
trees turn to crimson and gold. Canberras parks and gardens are
beautiful for walks as the air turns crisp and cool against the clear,
bright blue skies. Theres plenty going on in the vineyards in autumn,
too, with the picking of grapes and the wineries swinging into action
to produce their wine. Some vineyards have restaurants on site, so you
can taste wine and enjoy a leisurely lunch in front of an open fire. The
Canberra and Region Heritage Festival takes place from 8-17 April, celebrating
the citys heri-tage with more than 2,100 events and activities
including a lakeside regatta with traditional boats, vintage cars and
storytelling at historic Blundells Cottage.
Rally
drivers will be flying through the Canberra forests on the weekend of
April 23 and 24, competing in the Subaru Rally of Canberra as a part of
the prestigious FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship. This year the rally
has an extended field for Australian class competitors, historic cars
and the Subaru rally itself.
