Suburbs territory the company has now franchised to spread the
gourmet food and cafe concept. Brisbanes Indooroopilly store opened
in March 2005 and was a finalist for fine dining in the Restaurant and
Catering Awards (QLD) and also won the award for best cafe and coffee
shop. Gourmet items on sale include exciting finds such as kangaroo paw
olive oil and sumptuous lobster oil from South Australia, perfect for
basting and stir-fries. Check out the hampers, too: the Kiss Kiss Hamper,
$55, comes with red lips, Karma Sutra chocolates, parmesan wafers, pan

100-114 Coonan Street, Indooroopilly. Crikey! An hour from Brisbane, Australia Zoo, home of crocodile
hunter Steve Irwin, is the place to see a whole swag of wonderful wildlife
including daily elephant-feeding sessions at 10.30am and 2.45pm.
The zoo supplies fresh fruit and vegetables, so you can feed the elephants
yourself. Australia Zoo is about an hours drive from Brisbane at
Beerwah via the Bruce Highway. Degustation menus and chocolate high tea Stamford Plaza Brisbanes award-winning Siggis
at the Port Office restaurant offers classical and contemporary Australian
cuisine in a sophisticated 19th century setting. As well as the dinner
menu, Siggis has exciting degustation menus, which change regularly.
Dinner: Tuesday to Saturday from 5.30pm until 10pm (restaurant) and midnight
(wine bar). Attire: Lounge suit. Meanwhile, Stamfords Brasserie
on the River has made its indulgent chocolate high tea a permanent fixture
on the menu every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 3pm to 5pm. The buffet
includes buttermilk, vanilla, sultana drop and treacle and chocolate chip
scones, served with Tasmanian raspberry and Victorian apricot conserve
and thickened cream; pastries; white and dark chocolate fondue with fresh
strawberries for dipping; and gourmet finger sandwiches. History on the Brisbane River The three and a half hour Brisbane River History Cruise
is designed to introduce passengers to the history of Brisbane and its
river. Accompanied by commentary from Ernie Dingo, the cruise takes you
downstream from South Bank to Fort Lytton, passing under the Goodwill
and Gateway bridges. The cost is $45. Thank goodness its Friday! Marriott Hotels are known for their warm hospitality,
making them not only luxurious places to stay but also great venues for
dining and enjoying a drink in intimate surroundings. Brisbane Marriott
Hotel offers a special ambience in the Lobby Bar, Petries, which is perfect
for coffee, after-five drinks or a glass of Champagne before dinner at
Petries Restaurant, which specialises in elegant, contempo-rary cuisine.
