Discover the Central Coast

The Skillion, Central Coast

Think of the NSW Central Coast and water in all its forms leaps to mind – rivers, lakes, surf beaches, fishing spots and gentle rainforest creeks.

>> Destination Central Coast, Weekends For Two

Woy WoyThere’s so much to discover about this slice of Australian coastline that you’d better double your intended stay! Fresh oysters and succulent prawns on the waterfront at Woy Woy; fish and chips overlooking the boats at Hardy’s Bay or checking out the homes of the rich and famous at Pearl Beach over a seafood lunch – these are the things of which a Central Coast escape are made.

Of course, there’s much more to the area than food, drink and water and for the energetic there are the cliffs and quiet beaches of the Bouddi National Park which includes the incomparable stretch of Putty Beach at Killcare. Head out for a spectacular sunset at Box Head overlooking Broken Bay, the mouth of the Hawkesbury River, Lion Island and the lights of Palm Beach in
the distance.

Take a swing at the golf courses at Gosford, Toukley, Wyong and Woy Woy, as well as a new championship standard course at Magenta Shores near The Entrance. The pressure you’ll find at busy city courses is remarkably absent on the Central Coast.

Terrigal, Central CoastTerrigal is famous for its restaurants and coffee shops and there’s a pleasant buzz about the place all year sound. Avoca and North Avoca have superb surf beaches and you’ll encounter some wonderful rock shelters and formations along the headlands of
this area.

If the kids are with you, take a ride along to the lighthouse at Norah Head and then on to The Entrance, where there’s a water fun park and the traditional pelican feeding every afternoon at 3.30pm.

Another wonderful way to get a sense of the Central Coast is to explore it on a cruise boat, many of which operate all year round.

The choice is yours.
