Information about Parramatta:
Today Parramatta, located 23 km from Sydney's GPO, is considered the geographical centre of Sydney. Parramatta started life as a farming area for the first settlers. Slowly it grew and by the 1960s Parramatta was a major outer suburban centre. As the metropolitan area grew to the west Parramatta seemed to come closer to the city centre. Today Parramatta is a thriving city in its own right. The area is home to the famed Kings School and has a large number of important historic buildings.
