Longford is a small and fascinating historic town which was first settled by Europeans in 1807. Located 24 km south-west of Launceston, the major historic attraction at Longford is Christ Church (1839). The church clock and bell were both gifts from George IV. Other buildings of note include the Queen's Arms (1835), the Blenheim Hotel (1846), the former Tattersall's Hotel (1860) now the Longford Library, Longford House (1839), 'Old Norley' (1838), 'Brickendon' (1831), 'Northbury' (1862). 9 km from Longford is the Woodstock Lagoon Wildlife Sanctuary.
