Bicheno is a charming seaside resort town noted for its quality accommodation, its excellent fishing facilities and its safe and attractive beaches. The area round Bicheno also offers some interesting coastal walks which take in superb rocky outcrops and spectacular blowholes. The Bicheno Courthouse (1845) is of interest, as are the East Coast Birdlife and Animal Park, the Sea Life Centre, Diamond Island Nature Reserve and Bicheno's Rocking Rock - a huge 80-tonne piece of granite balanced so that it rocks with the movement of the tide.
