Mount Gambier is the jewel of South Australia's south-eastern region. It is a large rural centre famous for the remarkably blue Blue Lake which is truly one of the world's wonders. There are many attractive, historic buildings in Mount Gambier, including the old Mount Gambier Courthouse (1864-65) and the Mount Gambier Hotel (1862). Other attractions include the views from Centenary Tower, Attamurra Cottage, which displays characters from children's fiction, a number of caves, an animal and reptile park, Mount Schank and a superb 1863 woolshed at Glencoe. Mount Gambier also offers some excellent accommodation.
