Information about Coal Point:
Coal Point is now a residential area located at the tip of the Toronto peninsula which extends out from the western shore of Lake Macquarie. Around 1840 Coal Point became the site of the first coal mine around the lake. It was established by the Reverend Lancelot Threlkeld who set up an Aboriginal mission at Toronto in 1829. There are several small plots of parkland left at the end of the Coal Point promontory which offer fine views across different portions of the lake. Visitors to Coal Point will find excellent holiday accommodation.
