Information about Millfield:
12 km south of Cessnock along the Wollombi Road is the pleasant and peaceful locality of Millfield. On the crest of the small hill at Millfield is an old slab hut which was licensed in 1838 as The Rising Sun Inn. In 1840 bushranger Edward Davis and his gang visited Millfield and held up the inn while the licensee was being visited by John McDougall of Wollombi. McDougall later moved to Millfield and purchased the inn. Fine cottage-style accommodation is available in Millfield.
